I like the idea of having an unorganised tagging system (references?) and a more organised tagging system for sections (tags?)

But right now I find the tags to be too bloated and hard to understand. Can we have:

* fewer tags

* Clearer tags

to make the overall organisation of videos easier. I'm quite experience with salsa terminology but even I am confused when see the amount of tags on offer. Still feel it's still too cluttered for an early product though. I shared some screenshot examples (For Cuban Dances). With the Partner work drop down it only has three options, so it's easy to see different ways of doing partner work at a high level.

But then you look at the "Despelote" drop down and it has so many extraneous options (some of them are so specific they map to only one video!). An average dancer does not care whether they are rotating anti-clockwise vs clockwise for Despelote. And I don't know any user who will want to specifically find videos where the hands go up but not come down and vice versa (too specific)

I would say test these tags with dancers of various levels and see how they navigate them. See what kind of things they are looking for (Beginners might search for fundamentals while Advance dancers might search for specific move variations). See whether the dancers get lost or overwhelmed by the options (I would assume most users will be overwhelmed by the options i've seen so far).

What could help with this is having a standard view with only a few highly used categories and an advanced view with everything.
